チャンク毎の意味

「わからない部分があっても、そのまま英文を読み進めて大丈夫です。むしろその方が、「英語を英語のまま理解する力」が早く育つこともあります。

「それではまだほとんど意味がわからない」、「どうしても意味のわからない箇所が気になる」という場合は、英文をチャンク（小さな意味のかたまり）に区切って理解すると全体の意味がラクに掴めるようになります。

ただし、この時に「日本語の語順に直すことなく、英語の語順のままで意味を理解する」ようにしてください。これが英語をモノにする鍵となります。

なお、チャンク文や和訳は「必ず読むもの」ではありません。細かい分析がストレスになるようでしたら、無理に読まず、英文だけを楽しんでください。

つまり、英文以外を「読む」か「読まない」かは、あなたがより心地よく感じる方を自由に選べば良いのです。

at the hospital where I had undergone surgery for breast cancer = 乳がん手術を受けた病院で（where = 関係副詞、場所を説明）

❷Before the appointment, the gastroenterologist at my local hospital compiled the results of my CT scan and endoscopy and sent them to my breast surgeon.
→ その予約の前に、地元の病院の消化器内科医がCT検査と内視鏡検査の結果をまとめ、乳腺外科の医師に送ってくれました。

Before the appointment = その予約の前に
the gastroenterologist at my local hospital = 地元病院の消化器内科医
compiled the results = 結果をまとめた（compile = 編集する・取りまとめる）
sent them to my breast surgeon = それらを乳腺外科の医師に送った

My breast surgeon arranged for me to see both a gynecologist and a hepatobiliary/pancreatic surgeon on the same day.
→ 私の乳腺外科医は、同じ日に婦人科医と肝胆膵外科医の診察を受けられるように手配してくれました。

arranged for me to see = 私が診察を受けられるよう手配した（arrange for 人 to 動詞）
both A and B = AとBの両方
on the same day = 同じ日に

He said, “Tumor marker values, which usually rise if breast cancer comes back, have not increased at all.
→ 「乳がんが再発すると通常上がる腫瘍マーカーの値が、まったく上がっていない」と彼は言いました。

Tumor marker values = 腫瘍マーカーの値
which usually rise if breast cancer comes back = （関係代名詞）乳がんが再発すると普通は上がるもの
have not increased at all = 全く上がっていない（現在完了）

→ 乳がん以外の腫瘍の可能性も考える必要があります。

We need to consider = 考慮する必要がある
the possibility of tumors other than breast cancer = 乳がん以外の腫瘍の可能性（other than = ～以外の）

→ 「卵巣や膵臓の腫瘍を除外するまでは、乳がんの再発とは断定できません」とも言いました。

The mass around the duodenum, which was causing a problem with food passing through, also raised the possibility of a pancreatic tumor.

The mass around the duodenum = 十二指腸の周りの腫瘤（mass = しこり、duodenum = 十二指腸）

with food passing through（＝with food which is passing through） =通過する食べ物に → 食べ物の通過に
araised the possibility of = (of以下)の可能性を示唆した（raise the possibility = 可能性を示す）

He also arranged for me to see a urologist to address the hydronephrosis and a gastrointestinal surgeon for the evaluation and treatment of the duodenal transit disorder.
→ また彼は、水腎症の診察のために泌尿器科医を、十二指腸通過障害の評価と治療のために消化器外科医の診察も手配してくれました。

He also arranged for me to see = ～の診察も手配した
a urologist to address the hydronephrosis = 水腎症に対応するための泌尿器科医
a gastrointestinal surgeon for the evaluation and treatment of … = ～の評価と治療を行う消化器外科医
