第四話に入る前に｜SAKURAさんより
造影CTの結果は、想像していたよりもはるかに深刻なものでした。
嘔吐の原因と思われる消化管の周囲だけでなく、尿管周囲や卵巣にも転移が疑われたのです。
私は大きなショックを受けました。
平静ではいられず、とても仕事を続けられるような状態ではありませんでした。
そして私はこの後、この厳しい現実を家族に伝えなければなりません。
それを思うと、さらに重苦しい気持ちになったのでした。
第四話
After the CT scan, I left work early. I was so shocked by the results that I just couldn’t continue working.
Once everything at the hospital was done, I sent a message to my husband:
“It looks like the breast cancer has spread to my abdomen.”
He seemed shocked too, and said he would accompany me to the hospital next time.
When he got home, we went to my parents’ house to tell them about the metastasis.
My mother responded quietly, “I understand.”
Her short reply made me realize how confused and overwhelmed she must have been.
I felt deeply sorry for her.
The next day, I had a business trip to the city where my eldest son lives alone.
That evening, I had planned to have dinner with a friend and meet my son the following day.
I messaged my friend, told her honestly about my illness, and asked to cancel our dinner.
She must have been very shocked.
She sent me a kind message with warm words of support.
I could tell it was hard for her to find the right words, after hearing such serious news so suddenly.
The night before I was to meet my son, I called him from my hotel room and told him about my illness.
He was mature enough to understand what was happening. After asking me a few questions, he started to cry.
The next day, he came to my hotel.
He asked more questions—and cried again.
I almost burst into tears, too.
